The Tony award®-winning musical comedy Tootsie is the latest installment in Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta’s 40th anniversary season. From January 25 to 30, the award-winning comedy musical will perform a limited one-week engagement at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta.
Authored by Don McGuire and Larry Gelbart and based on the Colombia Motion Picture hit starring Dustin Hoffman, Tootsie tells the story of Michael Dorsey, a talented but difficult actor struggling to find work until one show-stopping act of desperation lands him the role of a lifetime. The laugh-out-loud love letter to the theater showcases the incredible work of director Dave Solomon, Broadway choreographer Denis Jones, costume designer William Ivey Long and many more!
“In these turbulent times, when the world seems out of balance, we need a place to let the good times roll,” raves Rolling Stone. “Tootsie is it!”
Featuring a hilarious Tony®-winning book by Robert Horn and an outrageously clever score by 2018 Tony-winner David Yazbek, the New York Times Critic’s Pick is “a joyful delight,” according to The Washington Post. Bloomberg reports the show is “so packed with punchlines, it should be called a jokebox musical!”
To celebrate 40 years of Broadway in Atlanta, a select number of $40 tickets will be available for purchase at each show. To combat the spread of COVID-19, all attending guests are required to wear face coverings and are encouraged to social distance when possible. For more information on the venue’s health and safety measures, visit the Fox Theatre website. Follow along on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for show updates and extra Tootsie content!
