Grant Park is one of Atlanta’s oldest neighborhoods

Located in the heart of Atlanta, Grant Park is one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods and most important historical districts. The neighborhood is brimming with the character and charm of Victorian era mansions, twentieth century bungalows and small cottages. Grant Park’s extensive tree-lined, brick-paved sidewalk system and taste for recreation and amusement only add to the quaint allure of the area.

Grant Park was originally created in the late 1800s after a generous donation of land to the city. Soon thereafter, a failed circus was purchased and its accompanying animals donated to Atlanta. The city decided to take a portion of Grant Park and created Grant Park Zoo: today’s Zoo Atlanta. Grant Park also hosts the second oldest house still standing on its original location in Atlanta, the Lemuel P. Grant Mansion.

Tin Lizzy’s Cantina. Serving up tex-mex cuisine and live music, Tin Lizzy’s unique atmosphere makes it a must-do in Grant Park. From their unconventional taco selection to their wide range of specialty margaritas, this is not your average Mexican restaurant. Start off your meal with their notorious “Three Amigos,” an order of one salsa, queso and guacamole, then explore their wide taco selection, ranging from classic Santa Fe Chicken to Buffalo Chicken, all the way to the exotic Korean BBQ Pork taco.
Ziba’s Bistro. Tucked away in a historic shopping center just down the street from Zoo Atlanta, Ziba’s Bistro offers an eclectic Mediterranean-inspired menu with something for everyone. Since opening s in 2010, Ziba’s Bistro has been dubbed ‘Grant Park’s Best Kept Secret,’ due to its fresh ingredients, great atmosphere, and friendly service.
Grant Central Pizza & Pasta. This local favorite was established in 1992. Grant Central Pizza & Pasta serves some of the best pizza and pasta in Atlanta. It is a great place to grab a pie orj just a slice and a salad while having a cold drink and enjoying the company for friends.
Grant Park Coffeehouse. Located across from the main zoo entrance, Grant Park Coffeehouse specializes in premium organic and fair trade coffee, as well as made-to-order breakfast and lunch, high quality delicious ice cream. For a special treat, try some of the baked goods and desserts that are made on site.
Six Feet Under Pub & Fish House. Located across from historic Oakland Cemetery, Six Feet Under Pub & Fish House has rooftop seating with a fantastic view! The expansive menu features so much goodness — gator bites, scallops cooked in parchment paper with herbs and wine sauce, steamed shrimp, fish and chips, a shrimp boil with calamari, catfish tacos, raw oysters, and so much more!

Shopping and Some Dining

The Beacon Atlanta features 110,000 square feet of restaurants and bars, a coffee shop, a bakery, a gourmet market, retail shopping, daycare, medical and wellness centers and the funky Artist’s Cove create a layered neighborhood experience that will satisfy patrons’ daytime and evening needs and desires.
The Beehive. This bright and eccentric shop is Atlanta’s first handmade boutique-collective that puts an emphasis on local artists and designers, alternatively known as “bees.” Products in the shop include apparel, jewelry, house wares, paper goods, hand-baked goods, bath and body products and more. These local designers work, live and make their products locally and regionally, giving shoppers an experience that is unique and one-of-a-kind as Grant Park.

Entertainment and Recreation

Grant Park. Grant Park is the fourth largest park in the city, and it is the oldest city park in Atlanta. The park is on 131.5 acres of land and is full of history and modern day amenities. The park is home to a beautiful new playground for your kids to enjoy, a two sided fountain, Constitution Spring, a pond, a paver-stone pathway and granite columns, making for a beautiful place to explore the past and the outdoors.
Zoo Atlanta has transformed immensely in the course of its 132-year lifetime.
