For anyone that may have missed the Forbes list, I thought it would be great to bring it to your attention. Considering the baby boomers are on the verge of retirement, the number of adults in their golden years is soon to rise drastically. For this, Forbes created the list of cities where you nest egg will go the farthest. This is incredibly important now considering the state of the economy and of many people’s retirement. You need to make sure you choose a city that will help make the most out of your money, and Atlanta was ranked #9 on the list. Forbes used housing affordability, inflationary pressures, employment rates for people 65 and over, net migration for those aged 65 and over and the number of doctors per capita as the criteria for ranking the top cities.
Atlanta really shined in the net migration category, coming in at #3. Apparently, retirees love the southern charm and weather – but who doesn’t? We really have an extraordinary city that appeals to all ages. Considering Atlanta was recently ranked one of the top places for singles and young professionals, it’s nice to know that we are also a top choice for retirees. Having a high number of Atlanta relocations keeps our local economy and real estate industry strong. Plus, we have a myriad of new home builders that specialize in the active adult market, meaning those that choose to retire to Atlanta have a wide choice of exceptional places to live and exceptional choices of Atlanta real estate. All in all, I would say Atlanta is a great place to live.
