With Georgia opening for business, what can we expect? Are new homebuyers rushing out to model homes and sales centers to look at new homes? Find out how pending sales are trending and get a glimpse at how pending sales and COVID-19 (coronavirus) cases interact.

Hunt stated in his April 2, 2020, update that the coronavirus impact on housing would be similar to the 2018 negative effect of rising interest rates on housing. So far, his parallels are accurate.

According to Hunt, as he talked to customers last week, many said that traffic and all activity had been stronger in week three of April than the first two weeks, and the data appears to back up that anecdotal information. New pending sales actually increased in the second and third week of April. This was happening as weekly coronavirus cases in Georgia peaked and began to drop in the third week of March.

Is the recent uptick in new pending sales a long- or short-term blip? Understanding the answer to that question is the reason MarketNsight will update its data weekly for the foreseeable future.

Join Lori Lane, Dan Forsman and John Hunt as they discuss the state of the market in Atlanta and what the recovery might look like.
