Atlanta Real Estate Forum congratulates Smith Douglas Homes for winning a Gold OBIE in the Best Logo – Community category for the Morgan’s Run logo. Presented by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council, the OBIE Awards are the premier awards given in the Atlanta new home construction industry.
When Smith Douglas Homes purchased the land for a new community in Cherokee County, they made an interesting discovery that the land owner’s daughter, Morgan, had an affinity to horses while she was growing up. The plot of land also happened to be located off the intersection of New Light Road and Morgan Road in Holly Springs. They also learned that there is a breed of horse known as the Morgan horse, which was one of the earliest horse breeds developed in the United States.
Due to the coincidental history, Morgan’s Run community logo is a culmination of combining an early American horse breed with a local story of a girl and her affinity to the equestrian lifestyle. The logo helps provide an opportunity to convey that story through its bold mane at the top combined with the community name in a Classic Serif font. To complete the logo, the local city name that the community resides in is what’s used to anchor it. The colors used – gold on top of a black background – help provide a nice contrast to show the uniqueness of the logo and is also a classic color combination for community entrance monuments.
