Virtual Color Consultant with Sherwin-Williams, Katy Scallan, is in studio for today’s episode of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Joined by co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick, the group discusses several state-of-the-art new products, as well as the highly-anticipated 2021 Colormix Forecast on this All About Real Estate segment of Radio.
Scallan has been with Sherwin-Williams for over 10 years. With a bachelor’s degree in interior design, Scallan has been able to make herself useful in several different roles within Sherwin-Williams. Now as a virtual color consultant, Scallan oversees the 30-minute free color consultations with customers. Because of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Sherwin-Williams had to adjust and adapt to continue to help its customers achieve their color needs. The virtual color consulting sessions are one of the big additions the well-known paint company enacted.
Sherwin-Williams is the industry paint leader in the United States with over 150 years of experience. In addition to being an industry leader in paint products, the company is also a leader in color confidence. Sherwin-Williams has several stunning showrooms consisting of studios with hundreds of unique color options.
“You have no project without color,” said Scallan. “You can paint and if it’s not quite right with the color, its hard to live with or you have to spend a lot of money to redo it. We can’t discount color and that’s where we really set ourselves apart.”
Sherwin-Williams came out with two one-of-a-kind products this year. The first is the Emerald Designer Edition. Emerald is the top-of-the-line interior and exterior paint. It has fantastic coverage, durability and enhances color choices. The Designer Edition goes above and beyond to add to quality to any interior project and offers over 200 new colors specific to the product.
The second new product is the Emerald Rain Refresh. This is an exterior paint that is the first self-cleaning paint product on the market. Every time it rains, the product expels any dust and dirt accumulation. This is especially helpful in the South where pollen and red clay are abundant. It is also useful on white or lighter colored exterior homes.
Each year, Sherwin-Williams comes out with a unique forecast to reflect upcoming global color, design and pop culture trends. Recently, the 2021 Colormix Forecast was released. One of the big updates is warm gray color schemes with the addition of brighter colors.
“Grays are going to be around for a while,” said Scallan. “Things are moving towards a warm gray, which is a gray with a little bit of a brown or beige undertone. It is transitioning very slowly. Grays, warm grays, whites and light airy colors are really the new neutrals.”
