The Greater Atlanta Association of Home Builders (GAHBA) is excited to celebrate Professional Women in Building (PWB) Week from Monday, September 12 through Friday, September 16.

PWB Week celebrates the contributions of women to the construction industry and provides an occasion for all National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) members to acknowledge and raise awareness of the impact “made by women through activities that promote, enhance and support housing and women in the industry.”

The NAHB has created “8 Quick Tips on Getting the Most out of PWB Week”. Here are some of our favorites:

  1. Add a special PWB Week section in your HBA and PBA newsletters and emails

The more people know about contributions made by women in the homebuilding industry, the more appreciated they will be. Focus on specific women within your industry that have made a contribution or difference within your industry.

  1. Embrace social media

It’s a free tool that nearly every business professional is on – make the most of it!

  1. Develop your own Top 10 List of reasons to celebrate women in the homebuilding industry as a running theme throughout the week

Announce two reasons a day – include local data and quotes to reiterate the message.

According to the GAHBA, PWB members work in all aspects of the building industry from owners and builders to suppliers and real estate. Currently, construction is one of the fastest growing women-owned businesses.

About 47 percent of privately-owned U.S. firms have women as the majority owner or equal partner – and about 885,000 of these firms are in the construction industry.

PWB exists as a diverse network for women in the homebuilding industry that are making advancements in the field.

Join the GAHBA in celebrating our own Professional Women in Building Council – Atlanta Chapter and all of the professional women in our industry.
