Donna Mathis is the CEO of DMD Studios. This design studio specializes in model homes, clubhouses and sales centers throughout the Southeast. With the New Year comes new optimism, and Donna believes this hope will be reflected in upcoming design trends. Her mantra is “Be Imaginative. Be Bold.” Basically, if you can dream it, you can put it in your home. Gone are the set styles of yesteryear. Instead, more and more homeowners are taking control and designing homes that are truly unique. Learn how to create homes that will leave a lasting impression on homebuyers.

If you’d like to have a home that reflects your true self but aren’t sure where to begin, Donna explains her process for helping clients achieve personalization.

Today’s Deal of the Day is from Peachtree Residential. The builder is offering homebuyers $7,500 in designer options at the Peachtree Design Center. This fabulous incentive can be used on pre-sales during January only. Make your new Peachtree home even better with options and upgrades. Our next guest is Sean Doughtie, president of Fairgreen Homes. Here are some of the trends he is seeing in the new home market.

  • Energy programs – Fairgreen Homes adheres to the standards set by the Environments for Living program. This allows the builder to provide homebuyers with more energy-efficient homes.
  • Plan first, elevation second – More builders today are focusing on designing the floor plan before the architecture. In years past, the order has been reversed. By going with a “plan first, elevation second” approach, builders minimize wasted space and create more efficient designs.
  • Minimum requirements – According to Sean, most of the homebuyers he talks to have a few basic requirements: a minimum of four baths; extra flex space; no half baths at the expense of full ones; and the ability to customize on a budget.

Fairgreen Homes currently builds at Thorngate in Forsyth County. This swim/tennis community has been extremely popular, and now only 22 of the original 200+ lots are available. To learn more, listen to the podcast and then call the community sales center at 770-844-7850.
