Oakland Park Gains National Attention
Atlanta’s newest mixed-use residential condominium and commercial project, Oakland Park, is already gaining national attention for its commitment to green building and great design. The community has been named a finalist in two national sustainable awards programs, including Environmental Design + Construction’s (ED+C) “Excellence in Design” and Multi-Housing News’ “The Design Excellence Awards.” Oakland Park is also Atlanta’s first LEED Silver certified multi-family building, meaning that it has met the qualifications of being a more energy efficient construction site that has sent little waste to a landfill, and that the building is a high performance building that will use less energy over time. Oxendine to Announce Georgia’s first Green Homeowners insurance policy
Insurance Commissioner John W. Oxendine will join Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company Regional Vice President Chris Molinari to announce the approval of the first green homeowners’ insurance policy in Georgia on Tuesday, September 30 at EcoManor at 11 a.m.
This new coverage became available this year enabling Georgia homeowners with conventional homes to rebuild to the latest environmental standards after a loss.
If home is damaged (partial loss), customers may choose from a menu of items
- Energy Star rated appliances, lighting, electronic equipment and roofing / insulation
- An Energy Star upgrade of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems
See Oakland Park on the Georgia Solar Tour
Oakland Park Condominiums is tremendously honored to be one of 26 Georgia sites included in the 2008 Georgia Solar Tour, organized by the Georgia Solar Energy Association. The Solar Tour gives those interested in environmental conservation practices the opportunity to take self-guided tours through buildings across Georgia that exhibit great energy saving technologies. This year’s tour is the largest yet, and will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 with Oakland Park open for tours from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Oakland Park is a 65-unit, LEED Silver certified condominium building located at 565 Memorial Drive along the Memorial Drive revitalization district in Atlanta.
There are 18 sites in and around Atlanta, one site in northern Georgia, six sites in central Georgia and one site in southern Georgia. Tour hours vary by location, so be sure to do a little research before diving into the event. (Continued…)
