The Womack Custom Homes team recently completed a three-phase transformation of a historic Cartersville bungalow. The project included updating the secondary bedrooms and baths, adding on a rear stone porch and patio space and renovating the owner’s suite, as well as freshly painting the walls and refinishing the hardwood flooring throughout the living and dining rooms.
Preserved accents are sprinkled throughout the home including the double-hung plantation shutters, the brick fireplaces and original recessed wall niches. In the first phase of the remodel, the two secondary bedrooms were updated with modern features to suit the homeowner’s overnight guests.
Upon entering the first bedroom, visitors immediately direct their attention upward toward the dramatic ceiling with geometric starburst wallpaper and detailed sphere chandelier. The soft pink of the walls accentuates the respective hue sprinkled throughout the room in the comforter, throw pillows and lounge chaise.
The feminine inspiration continues into the bathroom with pink accents throughout and an updated overall look. The bathroom now features a shower/tub combination with gleaming white subway tile with contrasting gray grout lines, mosaic-tile flooring, an L-shaped vanity with marble countertop and a vintage-style vanity mirror.
The second bedroom is now ready for visiting grandkids with double beds and a baseball theme. Its updated bathroom features a walk-in shower with glass surround and similar elements of the first bathroom including subway tile, mosaic-tile flooring and oversized vanity with marble countertop.
The next phase of this historic remodel focused on creating a thoughtful outdoor living space to include a stone back patio area. Offering plenty of comfortable seating, this addition expands the home’s entertaining space to the outdoors, something many historic homes lack.
Finally, the owner’s suite and bathroom renovation completed this project. A cozy retreat, the updated owner’s suite features bright white walls, vintage-style recessed wall niches on either bedside and a spa-inspired bath with dual vanity, featuring a make-up counter between the sinks, and a sitting area. Continue further into the bathroom to diamond mosaic tile flooring, a pedestal tub with Kelly green base and vintage-style faucet and an impressive walk-in shower featuring glass entry and tile surround.
