It’s finally that time of year and holiday decorations are lighting up communities! Many families make an evening out of tree-lighting ceremonies in their area. Be sure to mark your calendars for the following upcoming Atlanta-area Christmas tree lightings:
Thursday, December 5
Get those Santa hats ready, the Annual Vinings Jubilee Christmas Tree Lighting is back! This free event is fun for the whole family and a can’t miss event to kick off the Christmas season. Beginning at 6 p.m., attendees will enjoy live holiday music, train rides, cookie and ornament decorating, Santa pictures and more.
Friday, December 6
The City or Norcross hosts a variety of holiday activities during the month of December including its Sparkle! A Celebration of Kids, Creativity and Magic event. From 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Thrasher Park, attendees will enjoy carriage rides, photos with Santa, marshmallow roasting, live music and a Christmas tree lighting.
Saturday, December 7
Duluth residents will not want to miss all the Deck the Hall festivities on the Duluth Town Green! From 2 to 7 p.m., bring the family out to enjoy beautiful holiday decorations, live music, kids’ activities including inflatables, ornament making, face painting, games, a snow playground, snow slide and more and, of course, a tree lighting ceremony. Santa will be waiting at the Open House at City Hall from 4 to 5 p.m. Food will also be available to purchase from local vendors.
Lastly, Zoo Atlanta is hosting its 3rd Annual Jungle Bells Tree Lighting. For the price of a general admission ticket, attendees will enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities and entertainment including kids’ crafts, photo opportunities in front of the 20-foot holiday tree and a lineup of entertainment beginning at noon leading up to the 6 p.m. tree lighting. Holiday snacks and hard hot cider or warm mulled wine for the adults are also available for purchase.
Skate Into the Holidays
If you don’t get your winter fill at tree lighting ceremonies, explore the many ice-skating options throughout the Atlanta Area! Through January 20, families can Skate the Station at Atlantic Station. Skate beneath the stars and skyscrapers at the largest outdoor ice rink in the region!
