Traton Homes was recognized at the 42nd annual OBIE Awards with two Gold OBIEs in the highly competitive building design categories. The locally-owned home builder has won nearly 60 OBIE Awards throughout the years. The OBIE Awards, presented by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council on behalf of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, recognize outstanding achievements within the homebuilding industry and serve as the premier awards given in the Atlanta new home construction industry.
“We are proud to be recognized for outstanding building design at this year’s OBIE Awards gala,” said Kimberly Garwood, Director of Marketing for Traton Homes. “This is the second year in a row our popular Books townhome plan has been recognized, and we’re excited the Jonquil plan joined it in receiving an award this year.”
Traton Homes won in the Single-Family Builder – Detached (Builds 100+ Homes/Year) $500,000 – $599,999 category for the Jonquil floor plan built at The Grove at Adams Pond. The award-winning Jonquil home was built at the now sold-out Grove at Adams Pond community in Smyrna. Smyrna is known as the Jonquil City, and the floor plan was named in honor of the flower. The winning home’s extraordinary attention to detail and functional floor plan are showcased throughout three levels of living space that wows at every turn. Situated on a corner homesite with a fenced yard for the family pet, the Jonquil welcomes with an inviting front porch, smoky blue board and batten detail, bright yellow front door, and second level front porch that spans the entire width of the home. A gorgeous kitchen features plentiful white linen cabinets, a large island, stylish pendant lighting, beautiful mosaic tile backsplash, quartz countertops, and a farmhouse sink with a window above it. The kitchen opens to the dining area and bright family room, which includes a ceiling-height painted brick fireplace with a stained cedar mantle that is flanked by modern built-ins and windows. The second level wows with an exceptional owner’s suite featuring a sitting area with a fireplace and a luxurious owner’s bath with polished tile, frameless shower, freestanding tub and a huge walk-in closet. The owner’s suite also includes direct access to the second-floor covered porch with a Charleston-inspired blue ceiling. Two additional bedrooms, a full bath and a laundry room complete the second level. A bonus third level rounds out this amazing home, offering an additional bedroom, huge media room and full bath.
The second gold OBIE Award was won in the Single-Family Builder – Attached – All Builders $300,000 – $399,999 category for the popular Brooks floor plan. The award-winning Brooks townhome’s spacious, open design feels like a detached home. The winning Brooks home was built at Edgemoore at Milford in Marietta. The floor plan’s open concept main floor is perfect for entertaining, allowing for maximum interaction and flow. The stylish kitchen includes an island with Carrara Blanco quartz countertops, a clear gray tile backsplash and white linen cabinets. The kitchen opens to the family room with its painted brick fireplace, as well as the dining area that easily seats six while overlooking the patio. A wide staircase leads to the large owner’s suite wing with a luxurious bath that features Polar Night dark floor tile with rectangular bowl sinks on the vanity, contrasting with the bright white shower tile and white linen cabinets. Two additional secondary bedrooms are separated from the owner’s suite by a versatile loft space and conveniently located laundry room. The popular Brooks floor plan is currently available at Edgemoore at Milford in Marietta and East Park Village in Kennesaw.
Homes were judged based on overall look, curb appeal, aesthetics, interior floor plan, feel of entrance area, flow of kitchen and living area, bedroom size and relationship to other rooms, unique features, special design features, and innovativeness with regard to the target market. A very special thank you to the homeowners of both of these homes for allowing us to showcase their beautiful homes in this awards competition.
