Congratulations to Thomas Temmel from Meritage Homes for taking home Sales Manager of the Year at the 42nd Annual OBIE Awards event! On behalf of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA), the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council (SMC) present awards to the leaders in Atlanta’s new home construction industry.

This individual is no stranger to homebuilding and what it takes to be a successful sales professional – he’s been in homebuilding since the 1990s. Temmel joined Meritage Homes Orlando in 2009 as a Sales Counselor, bringing passion and skill to the organization and exceeding yearly sales goals. After relocating from the Orlando division to Atlanta in 2020, it became increasingly evident that his true passion was in supporting his teammates’ success. In 2021, he was promoted to Sales Manager.

As a Sales Manager, this individual currently oversees a staff of 20+ Sales Counselors in 15 active communities. Between July 2021 and July 2022, Temmel supervised a division record of 783 home sales and over $350,000,000 in sales. His enduring ability to lead with empathy and compassion is even more impactful than the numbers. Dana Peissig, the Sales Counselor, says “his ability to understand the challenges of his sales team while still focusing on customer satisfaction sets him apart. His level-headed demeanor ensures a balanced approach to any obstacle.” He always puts the team first, whether that is being flexible towards schedules or sympathetic toward sales goals. Generous and compassionate, this individual always leads with heart and conviction.

Successfully managed his team through COVID, Temmel was instrumental in opening seven new communities, despite the unprecedented material shortages and supply chain delays. Regardless of his busy schedule, Temmel is always quick to jump on a call to work a deal or put a nervous buyer at ease.

Temmel recently trained the newest Meritage Homes Sales Manager, Shannon Daniels, who said “that he genuinely embodies the company’s spirit and our core values in everything he does, and he inspires us all to do the same! He has been instrumental in training and mentoring me. Not only is he my colleague, but he is also a friend. I am so grateful for all that I have learned from him.”

This individual is currently leading the Meritage Homes team to another record-breaking year.
