On today’s All About Real Estate edition of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio, Mike Darsey, General Manager of SuperSod Atlanta, joins co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick to discuss his company’s diverse landscaping offerings for home builders and homeowners alike.
SuperSod is a division of the Patten Seed Company, which began in South Georgia, has been in business for over 100 years and is the world’s largest producer of TifBlair Centipede Seed and Zenith Zoysia Seed. SuperSod was created about 60 years ago and has evolved into the company’s most well-known service. The company offers nine different types of grasses, all hand-selected to thrive in the Southeastern climate. The varieties include three different varieties of Bermuda grass, four varieties of Zoysia grass, TifBlair Centipede grass and Elite Tall Fescue grass.
Since the types of grasses SuperSod uses are hand-picked to thrive in the Southeast’s hot summers, Darsey says that several of them are excellent drought options. Zoysia grasses and Bermuda grasses, for example, perform well in Atlanta’s frequent droughts. One type of grass, TifTuf Bermuda, has recently become a game-changer for drought-tolerant grasses in the turf grass industry. For homeowners, TifTuf saves a significant amount of money and water, but for home builders whose communities provide lawn care and golf courses, TifTuf saves even more.
Lawn maintenance has always been a tiring chore, but SuperSod has recently partnered with Husqvarna to make mowing the lawn easier for customers. Users set up a boundary wire and the Husqvarna automower robotically mows the lawn, like the robotic indoor vacuum everyone has on their Christmas lists this year. SuperSod offers Husqvarna models for small lawns and large, acre-sized lawns alike.
