Remember when your parents took you to a state park for a day of outdoor fun? Neither do I. Isn’t it about time we did something about that? I’m not suggesting you force your parents to take a impromptu road trip. However, you can provide your kids with memories that they’ll always remember fondly. You can also help grow their love of the great outdoors. On Saturday July 9, 2011, Sweetwater Creek State Park is hosting Summer Fun Day as part of the Outdoor Nation Summit. The event will last from noon until 5 p.m.

You and your family can enjoy all sorts of fun activities and shows. Kids of all ages will be treated to bird and reptile programs, leave-no-trace workshops and a climbing wall. There will be fly fishing demonstrations, an archery station, black powder demonstrations, guided hikes, paddling, prizes and giveaways.

For almost no cost (just $5 for parking), you’ll be able to spend the day participating in exciting activities with your kids. You’ll also be surrounded by the natural beauty of Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs, Ga.
