Snellville Residents Enjoy Year-Round Community Activities

Snellville is a bustling Atlanta suburb with a beautiful downtown, rich history and close community. Tucked away in Gwinnett County, only 40 minutes away from downtown Atlanta, this suburb offers Snellville residents and guests quaint small-town charm that will endear even the most hardened big-city lover.

While Snellville lacks Atlanta’s bright lights and rocking nightlife, it makes up for it with two centuries ’ worth of history. According to Snellville’s official website, the area’s first settlers were the Muscogees, known as the Creeks by English settlers. Native numbers dwindled due to the rise in English settlements in the early 1800s, and many settlers moved to the southern part of Gwinnett County where Snellville is now located. Today, city residents can still find Muscogee innovations like pottery, pipes and tomahawks in the soil, but the city’s new world industrial sector was introduced by three English settlers: Thomas Snell, and James and Charles Sawyer.
