Seven88 West Midtown finished construction in 2020 after first beginning the monumental project in late 2018. With a total of 279 residences, the luxury high rise offers breathtaking Midtown views through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows featured inside each residence.
While the glimmering project is now a staple of Atlanta’s skyline, the project came into fruition because McKinley Homes President Jinsong Yang had a vision for a building that represented Atlanta’s rapid maturity and industry growth. As president of the land developing and building company, Yang chose Midtown for its location because of the area’s unlimited growth potential, area amenities and walkability for the high rise’s residents.
“The initial concept for this project was a high-end apartment development. But, we quickly realized there were plenty of apartments in the area,” said Yang. “We felt that people deserve a place they could be proud to call home, and that’s what Seven88 West Midtown provides.”
McKinley Homes chose Atlanta-based architecture firm Goode Van Slyke Architecture, which designed the building with intention to align with the area’s industrial warehouse history and modern version of West Midtown. The building’s base will feature sturdy, dark brick that speaks to the area’s original warehouse district, while the tower itself was designed using technologically-advanced construction methods.
Building Midtown’s first glass high rise in more than a decade came with many ups and downs including navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. With a dynamic group of experienced leaders lead by Vice President of Commercial Development John Jones, the team focused on pushing thoughtful and creative design innovations.
The Seven88 West Midtown team enforced strict coronavirus policies which minimized the construction team’s exposure to the virus. As progress moved forward without construction delay, the team ensured the workers’ and future residents’ safety by developing separate heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units for each home. So, each home has its own fresh air circulation.
The team continued to focus on the importance of safety and community throughout the construction as seen when McKinley Homes donated a large volume of face masks to Northside Hospital Gwinnett and Emory University Hospital.
The homes at Seven88 West Midtown range from $300,000 to $1 million+ and provide residents with a quality lifestyle and home services through amenities like a fitness center, a saltwater pool and whirlpool spa, concierge service and a dog spa.
“Our goal for the amenities was to develop a warm and welcoming home for our residents and their guests,” said Jones. “Living in the city can make it hard to find somewhere that is quiet, spacious and comforting, but we were able to deliver just that.”
