Pulte Homes, in conjunction with PulteGroup’s Built to Honor program and Operation FINALLY HOME, was proud to present U.S. Army Sergeant Perry Haley and his family with the keys to their mortgage-free, fully-furnished home on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Pulte Homes and multiple local contractors donated their time and materials to build this stunning new home for the wounded veteran and his family.

“We are eternally grateful for our nation’s service men and women who have given so much to protect and defend our freedoms, and we’re honored to help put this brave veteran in a better place,” said Casey Hill, division president of the company’s Georgia operations. “We hope this home will help improve the quality of life for Sgt. Haley and provide him and his family with enjoyment and security for years to come.”

The Haley Family applied for the new home through Operation FINALLY HOME, a 501(c)(3) organization that honors wounded, ill and injured veterans and widows of fallen soldiers with new custom-built, mortgage-free homes. The family was then surprised live on CNN in February with the news that they were selected to receive a new home at Barrington, a Pulte Homes community in Sugar Hill.

“We are truly honored to be working with PulteGroup to support one of our nation’s heroes,” said Molly Halliday, marketing director of Operation FINALLY HOME. “We are forever indebted to Perry for all he has sacrificed for his country, and we hope this gift of a home will help ease some of his struggles.”

The Haley’s received the 2,600-plus square foot Mercer plan, a four bedroom and three-and-a-half bath home that includes a screened lanai. In addition, the home has the newest consumer-inspired features that Pulte Homes offers, such as the Pulte Planting Center, an owner’s entry with drop zones and a loft space for the Haley’s three children.

The Haley family worked with the interior designers to select the colors and style for their home, and then the design team took it from there to create a truly unique retreat for the entire family. The designers were sure to incorporate many of Mrs. Haley’s Americana collectibles, as well as military mementos that were important to their family and Sgt. Haley’s military history. In addition, Operation FINALLY HOME donated two Challenge Coins that were displayed along with the family scrapbook as a gift and sign of gratitude for Sgt. Haley’s service.

Sgt. Haley joined the Army after graduating from high school in 2000, where he then spent 13 years of his career stationed at several bases around the U.S. He was injured while serving in both Iraq and Korea, and he has been dealing with health issues as a result of a brain tumor. Sgt. Haley received several commendations for his time in the service, including the Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award and Good Conduct Medal.
