This week’s Around Atlanta edition of the Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio show features the Atlanta Boat Show, sponsored by Progressive. Hosts Todd Schnick and Bryan Nonni talk to the show manager, Kevin Murphy, about the show, what attendees can expect to see, activities, education opportunities and more.
Murphy has spent the last 20 years managing boat shows around that country, particularly sail boat shows. This is Murphy’s first year managing the Atlanta show. The Atlanta Boat Show is “THE show in Georgia for boaters and exhibitors,” said Murphy. With over 300,000 registered boaters in the State of Georgia, the Atlanta Boat Show is the place for them to go. The purpose of the show is for the top boating companies to display all their newest products. Attendees can expect to see a wide variety of boats including jet skis, fishing boats, sail boats, pontoon boats, house boats or any type of boat allowed on the lakes in the State of Georgia. Every major boating brand will be represented at the show.
“It really is a great opportunity for the exhibitors to show new products and for boaters, and non-boaters, to come see what’s out there,” explained Murphy.
Although many of the show’s attendees are boat enthusiasts, the show offers plenty of opportunities for non-boaters to look at beginner-type boats at an affordable price. With a large selection of entry-level boats offered at the show, attendees looking to join the hobby can start to become more familiar with what’s out there for them.
Additionally, the show offers numerous education seminars for novice boaters to learn more about a hobby they may want to become a part of. Seminars include boating safety, sailing, fishing, paddle sports and much more.
One of the highlights of the show this year is a sailing simulator. Designed by a nuclear physicist in Italy, the simulation machine has a small boat on it with a fan in front of it to mimic natural wind. This machine is used to teach sailing and will allow participants to see how sailing feels.
