Morgan and Schnick agree that podcasts are an excellent tool providing three main outcomes:

  • Business development
  • Thank you to current clients, added value
  • Create content

The complaint with podcasts and podcasting in general is its availability, but with the development of several apps, listening to podcasts is becoming easier and more convenient.

iTunes is no longer the primary interface to enjoy podcasts from, though the majority of a podcasts are available on iTunes. Thanks to smart phones, podcasts can essentially be created by anyone. With the touch of a button, smart phones make it easy to record, create and share podcast interviews for smaller productions that do not involve a large amount of post-production.

Creation is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to producing a successful podcast. Creators have to use all outlets to promote and spread the word about their podcast via their website, Facebook, Twitter, Google +, LinkedIn, even Pinterest! Just creating the content is not enough; people have to know about it and when to check back for a new episode.

Additionally, podcasts serve as an excellent conversation starter and networking tool. A successful podcast will create noise in the industry and eventually, guests will reach out requesting to be on the show.
