On Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 an official public ceremony will be held to celebrate the opening of the PATH400 Greenway Trail. Currently, the trail is paved from Lenox Road to Old Ivy Road, but it will eventually run five miles along GA400 through North Buckhead, Peachtree Park and Lindmont LaVista neighborhoods.

PATH400 will run through Buckhead’s Trails and Greenway’s Subsystem to provide an alternate route for cyclists, walkers and runners. Stretching from Buckhead to the Atlanta BeltLine, the trail will serve to connect parks, trails, neighborhoods and schools. By providing more convenient routes for area residents, PATH400 is expected to enhance local community involvement and opportunities for recreation.

PATH400 is a partnership between Buckhead Community Improvement District, Livable Buckhead and the PATH Foundation. Once completed, it is estimated the total project cost will be $10 to $12 million in design, construction and landscape expenses.

The celebratory public opening for PATH400 will be held on Jan. 24 at 11 a.m., and it will feature a parade, decorating contest, snacks and beverages. Guests are encouraged to decorate their bicycles, tricycles, scooters and other non-motorized vehicles for the parade, after which prizes will be awarded for the best decorations. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the trail entrance near Buckhead wall, which runs along the north side of Buckhead Loop, and extend for about a quarter-mile down the trail. Parking will be available at the Prominence Building located at 3475 Piedmont Road.
