Mister John's Music in Avondale Estates, Georgia

terra alma is pleased to announce that Mister John’s Music, a boutique music school started in Philadelphia, is opening a storefront in Avondale Estates. Offering group classes for babies, kids and adults, Mister John’s Music celebrates its grand opening with an open house on February 25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the new Olive+Pine Development at 6 Olive Street, Avondale Estates, Georgia, 30002.

“Mister John’s Music is not your average music school.  The way they incorporate relationship building into group music classes is incredible,” said Michaela Boone, terra alma Associate. “Their invigorating programming, including open mic nights focused on intergenerational performances where kids and adults play together, is sure to connect to the community.”

Mister John’s Music offers music education programs for all ages with live instruments, not recorded music. Private and group sessions are designed to be fun and participatory and include socio-emotional lessons through music and play.

“As grown people, developing new friendships and relationships can be hard. Mister John’s Music has facilitated many new friendships at all stages of life in an arts-based way,” John Francisco, Owner and Founder of Mister John’s Music. “Our first location in Philly has been very impactful.”

John Francisco, Owner and Founder of Mister John’s Music

Mister John’s Music continues its success in Philadelphia, currently renovating a three-story, 4,000-square-foot building to house its brand-new relocation there.

“Our agenda is empathy, inclusivity and kindness at Mister John’s Music,” said Francisco. “This certainly speaks to how I live and the programming we offer our students.”

When considering Atlanta spaces, the music school needed to be within 10 to 15 minutes of its current itinerate location to maintain its existing audience. The re-imagining of the space in Philly into the space in Atlanta was also necessary.

“I needed to visualize it. I knew what worked in Philly and wanted to recreate the magic related to the aesthetics of the place. When we finished looking at two to three places, the immediacy of what would work became evident,” said Francisco.

“My experience with terra alma has been fantastic. Michaela is easy to work with, a good listener and responsive,” said Francisco. “Her attitude is fantastic; she just kept presenting options until we found the right one. Michaela stopped by the other day to see the new space. I can’t wait for her to be in class!”
