Safety is always a crucial thing to consider when looking for a new place to call home. With the country’s latest events, there are many growing threats to new and current homeowners, including COVID-19, police violence and overall daily concern. Ranked 12th for daily security and fifth for pandemic safety, Georgia’s top 20 safest cities experience crime rates lower than the national average. SafeWise, a company that studies released crime reports to determine a city’s safety ranking, recently released its 2021 list of 50 Safest Cities in Georgia.

Topping out the list at number one, Milton is among plenty of cities that are the safest in the metro area:

Tyrone 

Located in Fayette County with fewer than 8,000 residents, this small city experiences one of the lowest crime rates in the state, ranking second. Tyrone residents can rest easy with a violent crime rate of less than one per ten thousand. Tyrone residents enjoy living in an urban environment with easy access to the big city. The city also features many restaurants and green spaces for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Woodstock

With a booming population of 33,000, Woodstock comes in at number five for the metro area’s list of safest cities. Located off I-575 and 30 minutes north of Atlanta, the city features many recreational options for those who love the outdoors and features some of the most sought-after schools in Cherokee County.

Kennesaw

Home to Kennesaw State University and ranking at number 10, the city boasts a low crime rate and many recreational parks to encourage residents’ physical, social and mental wellbeing. Children residing in Kennesaw also attend highly acclaimed Cobb County schools such as Kennesaw Mountain High School, Awtrey Middle School, Kennesaw Charter Science and Math Academy and more.

Suwanee

With a population of 21,000, Suwanee is one of the top 20 safest cities in metro Atlanta, sitting in the 13th spot. Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, The Suwanee Police Department promotes the safety and security of the city’s residents. The city also ranks as one of the top urban school districts in the United States.

Centerville

Jumping from its former place at number 63 on the list, Centerville is gracing the top 20 list for the first time. Located south of Atlanta, the city has recently become one of the safest boasting a property crime rate that has dropped from 43.9 to 24.4 percent in the past year.
