Lisa Simmons climbs to raise money for youth and veterans with disabilities
Lisa Simmons, President of Atlanta-based, Beacon Management Services, begins her 5th Annual “Moving Mountains” hike to benefit BlazeSports America August 15 – 18, 2023. This year’s climb takes Simmons to California, where she will climb Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the continental United States.
The trek includes steep vertical ascents at the summit using high altitude gear such as crampons, and harnesses.
“I’m proud to represent BlazeSports on my climb,” said Simmons. “This nonprofit provides life-changing sports programs and athletic equipment for young adults and military veterans with physical disabilities. As a female businessperson, I recognize the importance they place on inclusion for all participants.”
BlazeSports America has had an overwhelming demand for their programs from families effected by surging prices for housing, gas, and food. “Inflation is particularly challenging to families with special needs children because they typically have higher medical costs,” said Simmons.
This is Simmons’ fifth fundraiser hike in support of the nonprofit organization. Past hikes include the Rim to Trim trail across the Grand Canyon, Machu Picchu in Peru via the Inca Trail, and summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world.
