Frank Wickstead with Jones Pierce Studios

Managing Partner of Jones Pierce Studios Frank Wickstead is in studio on today’s episode of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Joined by co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick for this segment of All About Real Estate Radio, Wickstead dives into how Jones Pierce Studios was created, how it uniquely operates and various projects currently in the works.

Wickstead started his academic career in architecture and gradually moved towards general contracting. After spending various summers in high school and weekends in college working in construction jobs, Wickstead gained an affinity for the construction industry.  This led his professional career in design to shift to design building.

Jones Pierce Studios began about three years ago when Wickstead reached out to an old friend, Brian Jones, who leads Jones Pierce Architecture. Wickstead asked if Jones wanted to add on a construction and client representation division to the firm. After many conversations and negotiations, Jones and Wickstead Partnered to create the design-build firm Jones Pierce Studios.

Jones Pierce Studios is known for creating and completing projects that are sustainably driven. The expert builders and designers with the firm understand the importance of a sustainable home and the advantages that come with it.

“Sustainability is the benchmark,” said Wickstead. “Years into my career, I found myself selling sustainability as a feature. But when it came to cut back to meet budgets, it started with the sustainability features. So, we started adding it as our baseline.”

In addition to being sustainably driven, Jones Pierce projects are also architecturally driven. Because Jones Pierce Studios was created by joining construction with architecture, their approach and execution to home building products is unique. The design and specification come first in architecturally driven projects.

“We are starting to attract people with the same frame of mind,” said Wickstead. “People that are going to be focused on their client, sustainability and architecture. The latest of these groups we’ve attracted is LG Squared.

Jones Pierce Studios is currently working on a project in collaboration with LG Squared. The home is considered to be in the upper echelon of home sustainability. This unique product starts with performance and works its way backward. Based on the client’s budget, the home plan starts with sustainability in mind and then moves on towards finishes. This means the interior of the home won’t be as posh as other home projects typically within this price range, but its sustainability features will be far superior.
