It all started in 1970 when John Wieland began building new homes in Atlanta using his Volkswagen Bug as his office and materials delivery truck. Today, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods has expanded its new home offerings beyond the Atlanta market to Nashville, Raleigh, Charleston and Charlotte with more than a dozen neighborhoods slated to debut in 2015 alone. Priced at $5,000, the first John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods designer model home debuted in 1973. It was fully decorated and featured a bright yellow and green color palette, plastic and wicker furniture throughout and artificial plants. From there, the builder opened the first ever Design Center in Atlanta making it easier for buyers to select the interior and exterior features for their new John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods dream homes. Also during this decade, the builder constructed a home for the National Association of Home Builders Convention. Located off of Azalea Drive in Roswell, this spacious home boasted many high-end features including a master retreat with two Jacuzzi bathtubs, an art gallery, a caterer’s kitchen, a family kitchen and large in-law suite above the garage.
In 1991, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods built House Beautiful magazine’s House of the 90s. Located in Roswell in the Inverness neighborhood, this three-bedroom and three-bathroom home featured a combination of dream home wish list items determined by the magazine’s readers. The 90s also brought prestigious recognition from Professional Builder Magazine as John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods was named National Builder of the Year.
The early 2000s was full of a lot of exciting changes for John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods. First, the builder introduced the industry-leading John Wieland 5 year-20 Year Warranty. Second, the builder became a design icon when it constructed the 2002 New American Home that featured a carriage house, waterfall swimming pool and sunset terrace. Located in Atlanta’s Vinings Estates, the home also met the highest handicap visibility standards for accommodations. Also in 2002, the builder celebrated its 20,000th home closing. It was the lucky buyer’s third John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods home!
John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods received more recognition in 2005 for its beautifully crafted homes when it was chosen as America’s Best Builder by the National Association of Home Builders and BUILDER Magazine.
Today, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods is still creating new milestones and setting new trends.
