At the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s (HBA) January Installation and Awards Program, HomeAid Atlanta, the HBA’s officially designated charity, announced its 2017 award winners. The organization gave awards to its 2017 Builder of the Year, Trade Partner of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
The 2017 Builder of the Year is Jim Chapman of Jim Chapman Communities. After displaying one of his active-adult homes at the International Builders’ Show in Orlando in January 2017, he donated the home to HomeAid Atlanta and Family Promise of Hall County. Today, the homes is used to provide transitional housing for families and up to eight people. During the installation and assembly of the home, he and his team provided their time, leadership skills and resources. Since then, he has provided Family Promise with ideas for transitional housing projects.
HomeAid Atlanta’s 2017 Trade Partner of the Year is Ferguson Enterprises. Ferguson is a frequent donor to HomeAid Atlanta and its renovation projects and a longtime donor to the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council’s annual silent auction which benefits HomeAid Atlanta. Additionally, the company has been a huge part of HomeAid Atlanta’s build and renovate projects over the years. In 2017 alone, Ferguson donated thousands of dollars in materials to HomeAid’s renovation projects.
Finally, the 2017 Volunteer of the Year is Northwest Exterminating Good Deeds Team. In 2017 and the years prior, the Good Deeds Team has assisted HomeAid through its Essentials Drive, collecting CareKits for homeless veterans and participating in Care Days. In October 2017, the team cooked and served lunch at HomeAid’s Care Day with the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association at Covenant House Georgia. The team of volunteers has also donated photography services and souvenir photographs for the annual Housing the Homeless Golf Tournament for many years. Additionally, the company donates pest control services to HomeAid’s build projects.
Each of the award winners is dedicated to HomeAid Atlanta’s purpose of building new lives for Atlanta’s homeless population. Congratulations to the winners!
