Eat Your Way Through The City at Taste of Atlanta

On today’s Around Atlanta edition of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio, co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick are joined by a representative of a food-focused Atlanta favorite that needs no introduction. Skye Estroff, marketing and media manager for Taste of Atlanta, gives listeners a bite-sized bit of information about what the 16th annual Taste of Atlanta food festival will include.

From October 20 to 22, “Atlanta’s Biggest and Best Food Fest” will invite over 40,000 people to attend and enjoy some of Atlanta’s best cuisine. This year, the festival will be taking place at the Old Fourth Ward Park, right across the street from the shops and restaurants at Ponce City Market. Some highlights include Fox Brothers Barbecue at Friday’s kickoff and over 100 restaurants showing up to provide samples through Saturday and Sunday.

One perk of this year’s location, Estroff says, is the walkabilty and “bike-ability” of Old Fourth Ward Park. “We’re really encouraging rideshar[ing] this year.” There will also be a bike valet onsite. Another major benefit of having the festival in Old Fourth Ward Park is its closeness to Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market and more that are closer to the Old Fourth Ward than Midtown, where the festival has been held for the past 15 years. “People can come to Taste of Atlanta, fill up, then walk around and see the other sites.”

As for strategy, Estroff says to visit the restaurants you want to check off your list first. A full spread of participating restaurants can be found here. After, walk around and pick out things you have not tried before. After all, Estroff says, the purpose of Taste of Atlanta is to support the local restaurants. Attendees can try something new and head to the restaurant after the festival ends for more.

This year’s festival is almost completely cashless. Attendees use wristbands they ordered when they purchased tickets that have points on them. For guests who want to buy more points, Taste of Atlanta pop-up tents are stationed around the festival for re-loading their wristbands with a cash or card.

Additional showcases at Taste of Atlanta include a barcraft competition and silent auction in support of Open Hand, a nonprofit organization that helps people prevent or manage chronic disease. Learn about the final barcraft competition here and the silent auction here.
