Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree, how do I get rid of thee?

Once you’ve taken down the tinsel, unwound the lights and carefully packed away your keepsake ornaments, it’s time to figure out what to do with the live tree.

To help reduce, reuse and recycle this holiday season, Keep Georgia Beautiful wants you to Bring One for the Chipper. Through early January, community organizations and volunteers all across metro Atlanta mobilize to accept live Christmas trees. Instead of ending up in a landfill, trees are reused as wildlife habitats or shredded into mulch. People dropping off trees can also receive a free sapling, while supplies last.

Are you ready to recycle your tree? Visit Earth 911 on the web. They list all Christmas tree recycling programs across the state. Simply go to the home page, search to find recycling centers for Christmas trees and enter your city or zip code. Many places in the community are accepting trees, including Home Depot. You’ll find drop off locations and dates that trees are accepted.
