If you’ve ever thought, “If only I could help the environment without leaving the couch,” the Odwalla Plant a Tree program is for you. In partnership with Georgia State Parks, Odwalla is giving Georgians the opportunity to plant trees with a few simple clicks of the mouse. No financial contribution is required, and the process takes less than a minute.

Just think: the clicks you provide to tending crops in Farmville could actually plant a real-life tree instead. If you want to support the environment and help with important reforestation and planting initiatives, simply visit www.odwalla.com/plantatree and find Georgia on the map.

The program is open from June 1 through August 31, 2011. Odwalla is donating $100,000 worth of trees to be planted across the country through the program. Each state’s tree allotment is determined by where website visitors choose to plant trees. In Georgia, trees will be planted in areas struck by tornadoes, pine beetle infestation or other damage. The species of trees donated will vary by region and likely will be planted in fall 2011 and early 2012.

“The Odwalla Plant a Tree program is very important to our efforts to maintain healthy forests and repair storm-struck areas,” said Georgia State Park Director Becky Kelley. “We hope all Georgians will visit Odwalla’s website to ensure our state parks receive the maximum number of trees.”

As of this writing, 31,994 trees have been planted in 2011. Michigan is in the lead with over 10,000 people clicking and planting trees. By comparison, Georgia has just 252 clicks.

So let’s show the rest of the nation that we don’t care solely about Facebook by pointing our browsers to the Odwalla Plant a Tree website and donating some trees to our local Georgia State Parks.
