Animal rescue organization Canine Pet Rescue (CPR) hosts its annual Halloween Howl 5K and 1K Jr/Sr Shuffle on Saturday, October 14, 2023. This event takes place at the Fence Road entrance to Little Mulberry Park in Dacula and is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier.
Raise money for the dogs of Canine Pet Rescue and support its mission! The 6th annual Halloween Howl 5k and 1k Jr/Sr Shuffe is an open invitation for families, friends and individuals. The 1K Jr/Sr Shuffle (fun run) is ideal for owners with small or senior dogs, our elderly community members and children who’d like to engage but prefer a shorter stretch.
The sixth edition of the Halloween Howl, a major CPR fundraiser, is a call to runners of all levels. All proceeds of the entrance fees directly support our dogs – in saving, rehabilitating, housing them, and facilitating their adoption into loving homes.
This Halloween Howl promises to be a BOOtiful event filled with entertainment for everyone involved! While wearing costumes is optional, prizes for the top Kid, Adult, and Dog costumes are up for grabs. The award ceremony takes place post-race.
The 5K commences sharply at 9 a.m., followed by the 1K Jr/Sr Shuffle at 10 a.m. Runners, walkers, strollers, and furry friends are all heartily welcomed! Dogs attending the event must be up to date on all vaccinations, including rabies, and should wear an ID tag. A 6-foot or shorter leash is required (no retractable leashes), and dogs must be under adult supervision at all times.

Event proceeds will empower Canine Pet Rescue to continue providing critical veterinary care for the dogs under its wing. Carla Brown, the President and Chief Dog Officer of Canine Pet Rescue notes, “A significant portion of Canine Pet Rescue’s funds is allocated to veterinary expenses. The dogs we save often have complex health conditions, requiring costly treatments before they are ready for their forever homes.”

About Canine Pet Rescue
As a 501c3 non-profit organization, Canine Pet Rescue survives and relies on donations. It focuses on saving German Shepherds from high-kill shelters in the South but occasionally also takes in other working breeds. Dogs that enter the Canine Pet Rescue facilities are crate trained, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and treated with flea and heartworm preventative care. Once given primary care and treatment, the dogs are given an extensive temperament evaluation and offered for adoption.
