Callaway Garden’s Fantasy in Lights is ringing in the holiday season as the featured attraction on today’s Around Atlanta segment of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Rachel Crumbley, director of marketing and public relations for Callaway Gardens, shares information on the gardens, the Christmas events and why the attraction is a great place for people to make memories.

Callaway Gardens was started 62 years ago as a simple garden; now, it features a host of attractions in addition to the gardens. These attractions include the world’s largest beach, one of the world’s best butterfly houses and a full woodland botanical garden. Callaway also has a variety of resort-style attractions, such as golf, tennis, fishing, accommodations and eight different restaurants.

One of Callaway Gardens’ most well-known attractions is its Fantasy in Lights event, which was recognized as a top 10 destination for holiday lights by National Geographic Traveler. Now in its 23rd year, the attraction has more than eight million lights and a variety of scenes designed around a nature or Christmas theme. Visitors can ride through the lights in their own personal vehicle or ride on the open-air Jolly Trolley. Each scene along the trail showcases its own theme, and they display like chapters in a storybook. In addition, there are more than 400 speakers placed throughout the woods, as each scene has its own music.

After riding through Fantasy in Lights, visitors can stop in at the Christmas Village, which features new entertainment, Santa, hot chocolate, gifts and a variety of ornaments. There are also two special scenes located behind the Christmas Village on the beach. Featuring the 12 Days of Christmas and a Nativity Scene, a narrator tells a story at each scene.

Fantasy in Lights ends on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, meaning time is running out for visitors to attend. Crumbley recommends purchasing tickets in advance to make sure you can come on your preferred date and time. Ticket prices range from $8.50 to $28 per person, and they also include daytime admission that can be used between now and the end of the year to enjoy the gardens.

Multiple other special events will take place during the holidays, including storytelling with Mrs. Clause on Saturdays and Sundays, a book signing with Vince Dooley on Dec. 20, and special meals and Chapel services on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
