If anyone has any wisdom on the Atlanta real estate market and its potential, it is Dan Forsman, President and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, Georgia Properties. He joins co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick on today’s segment of All About Real Estate on Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio to share what he sees in Atlanta’s future.
Forsman says that in 2013, his business converted to Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, and the results have been phenomenal. They grew from 950 agents to over 1600, and last year’s $3.6 billion in sales doubled their previous numbers. Forsman describes his firm as “diverse and focused,” and to hear the list of initiatives, they have to be in order to handle the load. BHHS handles corporate relocations, new homes, residential resale, luxury and more. The marketing team recently was awarded a Max Award, which put their marketing work up against big players like Coca-Cola and the Atlanta Falcons. Forsman is proud of the work his team is doing.
He says that the Atlanta market is looking good. With professional sports, arts and other major employers the city has an incredibly diversified economy with room for growth. A trend he expects to see is “going vertical,” especially in the city limits. One reason for this is the interest in foreign investors, specifically from China, who are looking to Atlanta and want high-rise living. Forsman also believes that there is plenty of room for Atlanta to redevelop to capitalize on the “live, work, play” idea of a thriving downtown.
Forsman sees obstacles as a means for change. If, as Forsman says, “traffic is a huge issue,” he wants his company and others to see that as a problem to be solved. For example, the I-85 issue could be a way to “supercharge midtown” change.
