Led by Robert Wilhite, the new drone division is based out of the AEP Buford, Georgia office.
Wilhite has more than six years of experience as a commercial drone pilot. In this capacity, he oversees expanding the drone division, staffing and business development.

At present, AEP has four drones including an industry leading Rockrobotic Automation Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) unit. With several certified drone pilots working for AEP, the company can conduct aerial mapping, topographical surveys, aerial videography, photogrammetry, aerial photos and much more.
Drones are up to five times faster than land-based methods of surveying and require less manpower. Drones are also incredibly accurate and can provide in-depth data. A single drone flight can yield thousands of measurements in a variety of different formats.
