Angie Macon, executive director of the Decatur Arts Alliance, joins host Todd Schnick and co-host Carol Morgan on this week’s Around Atlanta edition of the Atlanta Real Estate Forum radio show.

Founded in 1989, the Arts Alliance was founded as a nonprofit partnership of artists, business owners, residents and government dedicated to supporting and enhancing the arts in the city of Decatur.

The Decatur Arts Festival begins with the ArtWalk opening on Friday May 8th at 5 pm. The festival hours are Saturday, 10 am-6 pm, and Sunday, 11 am-5 pm. This is a rain or shine event that is also FREE. There will be several food and beverage vendors located on the East Court Square, or you can take your pick from Decatur’s award-winning restaurants, pubs and fast food restaurants.

An exciting event happening on Friday, May 13th is the Lantern Parade beginning at 9 p.m. Gather at Color Wheel Studio at 508 E. Howard Ave. after 8 pm, then parade to the downtown square along with the Black Sheep Marching Ensemble. Guests are encouraged to make your own lantern at home or attend a lantern-making workshop where supplies and guidance are provided.

The Artists Market will feature more than 150 artists selected through a competitive jury process. The annual market is known for its high quality of artwork and attracts artists from all over the Southeast and beyond.
