Like music? Looking for an event to go to this Memorial Day weekend? If so, the 34th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival is happening on May 28-30. This event is one of the largest free jazz festivals in the country, so don’t miss your opportunity to see all of the show-stopping performances. Here are just a few of the performers who will be playing on the main stage:

  • Audrey Shakir – An accomplished jazz vocalist, Audrey Shakir has worked in New York with many famed jazz artists. Since moving to Atlanta in 1989, she has been featured at several Atlanta Jazz Festivals and was nominated for the 1992 Coca-Cola Music Award for Best Blues Artist.
  • Regina Carter – Regina Carter will be performing pieces from her unique album, “Reverse Thread.” Combining traditional music with contemporary stylings, she brings a new twist to African folk tunes. The result is unlike anything you’ve ever heard.
  • Sean Jones Quintet – One of jazz’s top young musicians, Sean Jones explores personal journeys and spirituality through his music.
  • Stefon Harris, David Sanchez and Christian Scott – These critically acclaimed jazz musicians will be performing tracks from their latest album, “Ninety Miles.” The accolades each artist has received is beyond impressive, and combined, their work is something that needs to be heard by any music enthusiast.

Remember, the 31st Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival will be held in Piedmont Park on May 28-30. The event is free, so there’s really no excuse not to go.
