Essentials Drive 2018 Volunteer Group

The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA) invites you to join HomeAid Atlanta, the organization’s designated charity, in its efforts to collect “essential” items for homeless mothers and babies. This year’s Essentials Drive kicks off Monday, April 29, 2019, and runs through Tuesday, May 7, 2019, in honor of Mother’s Day.

The HomeAid Essentials Drive is a citywide effort to collect “essential” items, such as diapers, pull-ups, baby wipes, baby food, formula and baby laundry detergent, benefitting homeless mothers and babies in the Atlanta area. The reality of many homeless Metro Atlanta moms and children is an uncertain one, and there are as many as 7,500 citizens who go without a safe place to sleep, without basic necessities like groceries or even the certainty of where their next meal is coming from, and 50 percent of Atlanta’s homeless are women and children.

Launched in 2002 to offer relief to this vulnerable group, HomeAid Atlanta has collected more than 1.2 million essential baby items, assisting countless babies and mothers with the help of the community, local businesses, organizations and individuals.

For the 13th year, Atlanta-based UPS will assist HomeAid Atlanta with donation delivery to local nonprofit organizations that provide supportive services and housing to homeless families and children, several of which operate in HomeAid Atlanta-built facilities.

To donate, find a public drop-off location near you, or shop the HomeAid Atlanta online registries at Target and Amazon. Monetary donations and gift cards (Target, Walmart, Babies-R-Us, etc.) are also accepted.

All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Click here to learn more about HomeAid Atlanta or make a financial contribution. For more information on donating or hosting a collection location, contact the Director of Community Outreach of HomeAid Atlanta Karen McLane at 678-775-1450 or Karen@HomeAidAtlanta.org.

  1. Denim Marketing is once again participating in this important community event. I encourage other companies to join us in collecting items, collecting boxes, sorting and delivery. Thanks HomeAid for providing us a way to give back.
