Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio is joined by Monte Hewett at the 2015 annual OBIE Awards. Monte Hewett, CEO of Monte Hewett Homes, tells Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio how excited he is after winning a Gold OBIE in the $750,000 and Above Best Interior Merchandising – Attached Model category for Avalon in Alpharetta.

Avalon has been one of the most talked about communities this year with shopping, dining, entertainment and of course living. The timeless art of living well is a reality with the news of additional homes complete and ready for immediate move in from Monte Hewett Homes.

The interior design of the winning home features white on white paint, allowing the buyer to focus on the cove molding, wide-planked washed oak floors, burnished brass lighting and accents throughout. Special features include the custom living room ceiling and the chevron wood floor in the foyer. Casual furniture in white linens and cottons, washed woods and iron are contrasted with touches of velvet, gold accessories and dramatic artwork. A custom brass vent hood and honed Calcutta countertops are featured in the kitchen. A curved shower wall with marble mosaic is a focal point in the bathroom downstairs, and the owner’s bath features a freestanding tub inside the shower, wrapped in marble and custom fretwork tile. The folding glass wall in the family room is designed to extend the living space out into the private courtyard with plunge pool and outdoor grill. The Carriage House features black and white concrete tile, custom washed oak cabinets, white-washed floors and a brick wall to create a modern space for the sales center conference room.

Hosts Bryan Nonni and Todd Schnick ask Monte Hewett what it was like for him and his team to win such a prestigious award. “It means self gratification, when you put yourself way out on a limb…It’s one thing to do that and sell houses, but to have your peers recognize you, it’s third party validation, it’s really wonderful,” Says Monte.

The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s OBIE Awards celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2015. The awards began in 1980 and have grown throughout the years to include more than 100 building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement categories. The OBIE Awards are named after the obelisk shape of the actual award given. To see all of this year’s OBIE award winners, visit www.AtlantaRealEstateForum.com/OBIEs.
