The Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2022 – 2023 Book of Lists ranks Atlanta’s Top Commercial Developers based on the number of square feet developed in 2021 – 2022.

Breaking its eight-year winning streak, Georgia dropped to  No. 2 in 2022 for Top Business Climate — as ranked by Site Selection Magazine. Back in 2020, Commissioner of Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) Pat Wilson joined the Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio podcast for an interview. The GDEcD is the state’s sales and marketing component focused on attracting new business investment, aligning workforce education and training with in-demand jobs, promoting the expansion of existing small businesses and industry, attracting tourists to the state, determining new markets for Georgia products and promoting Georgia as a destination for arts and location for film, music and digital entertainment projects, as well as preparing and mobilizing state resources for economic growth.

As Atlanta and most sunbelt states continue to attract new businesses and companies, commercial real estate continues to be a strong part of the market. According to IBISWorld, Georgia businesses employed a total of 4,900,656 individuals in 2022, with a 1.4% average annual employment growth rate over the past five years. By total employment, the top three job sectors within the peach state are Real Estate and Leasing, Information and Manufacturing.

According to the GDEcD, 95% of the jobs in Georgia are small businesses, and its 12 international offices help local companies with on-the-ground advice and links into new markets. Serving as the home base of 18 Fortune 500 companies, the state also supports a $68.82 billion economic impact from Tourism.
