The Brock Built Green House has sold! Kinshasa K. Williams closed on the EarthCraft home in West Highlands on Dec. 31, 2008. If you’ll recall from last summer, the Green House represents many donated hours and products from a myriad of metro Atlanta companies as they worked together to create a new home in Atlanta that was the epitome of sustainable green building. In addition, the selling the green built home would include a sizeable donation to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Thus, Kinshasa’s purchase not only meant she had found her perfect home, it also resulted in a $225,000 donation to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Prior to purchasing the Green House, Williams lived in a condominium in Midtown. A native of New Orleans, Williams was immediately attracted to the Green House’s large porches and Craftsman style. The interiors of the home showcase several green features that appealed to her including energy efficient appliances, plumbing, doors and windows as well as environmentally friendly paints. Features of the exterior of the home include an herb garden, rain garden, outdoor fireplace, rain barrel and much more.

Once she discovered that a large portion of the proceeds were going to benefit CHOA, she was sold on the home. Williams volunteered at the Atlanta non-profit organization while she was in college, so it has always held a place in her heart. With the combination of eco-friendly features and finishes and her favorite non-profit organization, it was apparent that the Green House was her home.

Why were the green features of the home so appealing to Kinshasa?

“The eco-friendly features of the home were a major selling point and will help me save money in the long run,” Kinshasa explained. “In my previous home I did not have a backyard, let alone a garden, so I am thrilled to have a personal supply of fresh herbs right in my backyard.”
