HomeAid Atlanta is now calling for donations for its annual Essentials Drive. This yearly event organized by HomeAid collects diapers and baby wipes for women and children experiencing homelessness. Although these items are essential for mothers and their children, they are not available for purchase through any government-funded assistance program. For this reason, HomeAid Atlanta has been gathering the community to help support these women and children in need for the past 18 years.
HomeAid is accepting essential items from April 6 through May 5, 2020. Coinciding with Mother’s Day, hundreds of moms and babies will receive necessary items this spring. Items such as diapers, pull-ups, overnight diapers and baby wipes are all welcomed for the drive. HomeAid is also accepting monetary donations, as well as gift cards to relevant stores such as Target, Walmart and Babies-R-Us. Anyone wishing to donate online to the cause can do so here.
After the completion of the event, and just before Mother’s Day, HomeAid partner Atlanta-based UPS will gather all the donated items. These essential items will then be distributed to various local nonprofit organizations around Atlanta that provide housing and supportive services for homeless infants, toddlers and families. Several of these organizations also operate in HomeAid-built facilities.
