Genuine craft beer is more than an enjoyable drink. With every empty bottle, a story is told and a relationship is formed, which is one of the main goals of Reformation Brewery. Spencer Nix, CEO and Co-Founder of Reformation Brewery joins us on today’s Around Atlanta show to talk about the background of the brewery, the objectives, future plans and of course, the popular beers featured on the menu.
Nix and Co-Founder Nick started conducting business 20 years ago, but at the time they had no idea it would actually be a successful business. Nick was a pilot who brought home authentic European style beer and Nix was in ministry. Once their paths crossed, enjoying a beer together became routine. A relationship developed between the two all because of their love for craft beer and eventually, they began brewing their own. After brewing more beer than they could handle, they invited friends over just to hang out. These small get-togethers quickly transformed into Brew Night where people from Alabama and Florida were camping out in Nick’s front yard just to try the beer.
With such popularity, both founders chose to enter the Peach State Brew Off with their Belgian Dubbel, Cadence. Winning first place was the push they needed to really invest in the business. The loyal people who were showing up to Brew Night invested in their thoughts and ideas and in October 2013 Reformations Brewery launched in downtown Woodstock.
While Reformation Brewery now has a physical brewery location in Woodstock, they have recently announced big plans for expansion in the heart of downtown Woodstock. The new space will serve as a research and development brewery and will be home to two public bars serving 16 to 24 unique beers at any given time, including favorites like Cadence, as well as limited releases, like the current Alani, a rosé ale.
The new location will expand over 6,000 square feet and include a large outdoor green space, decks with picnic-style seating, a Keeping Room full of activity on the main floor and a quieter, lounge-style space called the Study upstairs with booths, sofas and chairs surrounding the second bar. A gathering hall will also be located upstairs with games, a giant screen and room for live performances. This location will also offer food through a partnership with Canton’s popular Queenie’s restaurant. The new location is scheduled to open late this month and is located at 105 Elm St. in Woodstock.
Reformation Brewery was formed on the idea of why you drink is more important than what you drink. With events like Tacos and Trivia, Pint Night, Celebration of Harry Potter’s Birthing and more the brewery is dedicated to providing the community with a gathering place to just come, talk and hang out.
