Beer Fest

It’s time to crack open a cold one and come together with beer experts and lovers from all around Atlanta. Whether you prefer mild pale lagers or hoppy double IPAs, you’re guaranteed to find a beer of choice at the Great Southern Beer Fest Saturday, July 28 at John Howell Park in Virginia-Highlands. Event Manager with Atlanta Sport and Social Club, Michelle Fasig joins us on today’s Around Atlanta episode to share how you can open your pallet to something new this summer with unlimited tastings of 75 craft beers!

As an event coordinator who has organized and created beer festivals for four years, Michelle has a true passion for beer and the southern roots that it connects to. This is the first year of the Great Southern Beer Fest in Atlanta, but it certainly will not be the last. The best of the best southern breweries and their representatives are coming to the festival to pour samples of their favorite craft brew. It’s one thing to taste summer creations such as cucumber and lime, but actually meeting the people behind the flavor makes the experience even more special.

Attendees can expect to see popular breweries such as Good People Brewing Company, SweetWater Brewing Company, Monday Night Brewing, Jekyll Brewing and many more. For a complete list of confirmed breweries, visit Great Southern Beer Fest – Atlanta on Facebook. Besides the various crafts brews, festival attendees will also be treated to an afternoon of country rock music, local food trucks, games, gifts and more. Local band Outshine will amp-up the crowd with southern rock hits while food trucks such as Habanero, Mac the Cheese and Big C’s Chicago Kitchen provide the perfect pairing of food with all flavors of beer.

General admission tickets include a wristband that will get you into the event, a commemorative full-size mason jar and unlimited craft beer tastings from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tastings will be given in 3-ounce cups, which may sound small but when you drink real craft beer, this is the perfect size to really taste the unique flavors. The festival is predicted to sell-out and street parking will be limited. Traffic plans will be posted the day of the event but it’s encouraged for attendees to consider ride-sharing options to and from the event.

To purchase tickets online for a discounted price, visit www.greatsouthernbeerfest.com or visit their Facebook page for up-to-date news on the event. For more information on the Great Southern Beer Fest coming to Atlanta for the first time, tune into today’s podcast by clicking the link above.
