On today’s Around Atlanta edition of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio, co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick are joined by Jeanine Jones, public relations manager with Stone Mountain Park, to discuss Snow Mountain, Stone Mountain Christmas and more to do at the park during the holiday season.
Stone Mountain Park is a natural oasis in the backyard of Atlanta, spanning over 500 acres and boasting Stone Mountain, stretching to over 825 feet above the ground. Atlantans love Stone Mountain for its hikability, the summer laser shows it hosts and other year-round events, but Christmas is a special time at the park because the park hosts both Stone Mountain Christmas and the famous Snow Mountain.
The crossroads area at the park showcases two million lights, which begin to go up right after the Fourth of July festivities end. Stone Mountain Christmas includes light parades, a visit from a snow angel, and of course, Santa himself. Nightly holiday shows boast music, wardrobe changes, improv tellings of “A Christmas Carol,” and performances of “The Littlest Christmas Tree.”
Georgia may have been hit by a temporary snow storm this past weekend, but Stone Mountain Park has had snow since October and will continue to have snow until February 25. Every day, Snow Mountain makes 360 tons of snow for families to have a blast snow tubing together. Snow tubing is fun for all during the day, but after 6:00 p.m., the tubing turns into a cosmic, galactic tubing experience with lights and music.
