As listeners of this show know, Atlanta has many unique and fun events of every kind, and today’s event segment is no exception. On today’s Around Atlanta segment of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio, Erinn Rowell and Joe Rowell, co-founders of the Atlanta World Kite Festival and Expo, join co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick to promote this weekend’s festival and its activities.
Happening on Saturday, October 28 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Atlanta World Kite Festival and Expo that offers a unique opportunity for spending time with family in Piedmont Park, appreciate the community and the natural surroundings and promote friendship and the protection of the planet.
The festival will take place at Piedmont Park in the meadow between 10th Street and Monroe Drive. The Atlanta World Kite Festival is a free event and all family members are welcome except for dogs. Erinn encourages attendees to come out and fly kites with their families and all of their friends, bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic or scour the food trucks present and enjoy the family-friendly setting, the park and the teamwork involved with flying a kite. Guests can bring their own kites or purchase them at the festival. Joe also encourages guests to browse the array of vendors that will be lined up during the festival.
Luckily, those who are not as experienced with kite flying can get help during the festival at the “kite hospital.” However, anyone who wants to practice their kite skills can join the Kite Krusaders of Atlanta, who will meet for a Friday night kite mixer for making kites and teaching novices how to fly them. Local bands and performers will also be present to help attendees engage with the community’s musicians.
