Lora Perkins-Jenkins with Rocklyn Homes Wins Salesperson of the Year

Atlanta Real Estate Forum congratulates Lora Perkins-Jenkins with Rocklyn Homes for winning Salesperson of the Year. Presented by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council, the OBIE Awards are the premier awards given in the Atlanta new home construction industry.

It is said that a simple act of caring creates an endless ripple. Lora Perkins-Jenkins was the beneficiary of such an act and is now creating ripples of caring for others.

Lora had always worked in the fitness industry because she wanted to help change lives. Although “salesperson” didn’t fit her self-image, a divorce and the need to support her two sons motivated Lora to earn her real estate license. Lora and her ex-husband had an amicable relationship, and she agreed to help him find a new home. That search led to Carlton at Hamilton Mill, a Rocklyn Homes townhome community in Gwinnett County.

“Meeting the Carlton Community Sales Manager Holly Martin made me think 100 percent differently about real estate,” said Lora. “She was happy, she loved the work and she loved working for Rocklyn Homes.” Lora’s ex-husband bought at Carlton, but due to a paperwork glitch, the real estate firm Lora was with at the time refused to pay her commission. When Holly learned of this she spoke to Rocklyn Homes owner Michelle Jenkins. Michelle insisted that Rocklyn Homes pay the commission.

Lora never forgot that act of kindness and she stayed in touch with Holly.

“One day in 2015 I was visiting Holly and she gave me Michelle’s contact information and urged me to get in touch, said Lora.” A good judge of talent and integrity, Michelle hired Lora as a hostess at Cooper Manor in Gwinnett County. Lora thrived in the warm personal and professional environment Rocklyn Homes offered. Within months Lora was promoted to Community Sales Manager.

In June 2016, she was assigned to Open Fields, a luxury townhome community in Gwinnett County priced from the mid-$100,000’s. Lora sold all 78 homes in less than a year, averaging 6.5 sales per month with a dollar volume of $13.8 million, 100 percent of sellable inventory. Lora’s sales numbers have contributed significantly to Rocklyn Homes monthly sales goals, which resulted in a record-breaking year for the builder in 2016. Rocklyn Homes is on track to surpass that record this year.

“This was the job that allowed me to take care of my kids and it’s been absolutely incredible,” said Lora. “Now I understand that real estate has the power to change lives, which is what I’ve always wanted to do.” To say that Lora has joined the Rocklyn Homes family is an understatement. In April 2017, she married Chris Jenkins, Michelle’s brother and the company’s Vice President of Construction!

Lora Perkins Jenkins should be named Salesperson of the Year because she combines a giving spirit with extraordinary talent. She works diligently for her prospective buyers and relates to them on a personal level, especially the single moms.

“Lora is one of the most compassionate people I’ve ever met,” said Sales Manager Kerry White. “She goes over and beyond what’s required to make her buyers happy.”
