Whether you are looking to get exercise, have fun with your family or hear some classic Irish tunes, Atlanta has plenty to do to celebrate the Irish this St. Patrick’s Day. Epic Development residents will not want to miss some of our favorites:
For the active folks, Atlanta’s Official 3rd Annual St. Patrick’s Parade 5K on Saturday, March 11, begins before the big parade of the day at 10:00 a.m. The race begins and ends on Peachtree Street near 14th Street. The entry fee is $30 until February 12, when it is raised to $35, and $40 on the morning of the race. For participants ages 12 and under, the entry fee is $20.
The family-friendly Atlanta’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is taking Place on Saturday, March 11 in Midtown from noon to 1:30 p.m., rain or shine. The parade has been running since 1858, making it one of the longest running St. Patrick’s Day parades in the United States. The parade begins on Peachtree Street and 15th Street, and ends at the intersection of Peachtree Street and 5th Street. Spectators are encouraged to use MARTA and leave their cars parked at a station. However, a limited number of parking decks will be open.
Finally, music lovers will not want to miss St. Patrick’s Day with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Cherish the Ladies. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is hosting Cherish the Ladies, a Grammy-nominated Irish-American group and part of one of the top Celtic bands in the world, at the Atlanta Symphony Hall. The Ladies have been performing for more than 30 years with their arrangements of classic Irish folk songs. Shows will run Friday, March 17 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 18 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
