Greenery: it symbolizes energy, life and revitalization, something we could all use in 2017. Pantone said it best when they unveiled Greenery as their 2017 Color of the Year: “The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world.” Add some liveliness to your home by joining this effervescent yellow-green shade with what you already have or by starting fresh.

  1. Accessorize

You may not be looking to repaint all your walls or buy all new furniture – not to worry! There are still plenty of ways to rejuvenate your home with Greenery.

Throw pillows and blankets are easy to replace and are generally affordable. Bring any room of your home to life by grabbing a few green throw pillows or blankets.

If your walls could use a little freshening up, go for some wall art. Landscape photos or paintings will do the trick. Bonus points for bringing in depictions of trees, leaves or grass.

To get the most out of your green, situate it next to its outside counterpart by adding green curtains to your windows.

“This zesty green shade shines most when close to its natural habitat,” said Hannah Bruneman in an article for Better Homes & Gardens. “Dress your windows with new drapes that complement the foliage outside.

  1. Bring the Natural Beauty In

Greenery already represents the life-giving beauty of the great outdoors. What better way to bring Greenery into your home than to bring actual greenery into your home?

You can bring plants into your home in a variety of ways, such as succulents, terrariums, potted plants, topiaries and more.

If you do not have a green thumb, try a low-maintenance air plant, bamboo, orchid or succulent that does not require much water.

  1. Start Fresh

If you are looking for a complete makeover, get out the paint cans or head to your local furniture store.

You can color all your walls green or pick a few areas to make a statement. Bruneman suggests accentuating the wall aligning with your bed, a ceiling to draw the eye upward or replacing your kitchen’s backsplash with green tile.

If you prefer neutrals to bright colors, then pick a pale green. “[It] still achieves a fresh look but doesn’t overwhelm your senses,” said Bruneman.

Finally, if you plan to add fresh furniture to your home, then pick up one or more pieces that feature this inviting yellow-green shade. Bruneman proposes placing these in rooms with lots of sunlight to get the most out of them.
