This week’s Around Atlanta edition of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio spotlights an upcoming event at Georgia State University (GSU). On February 22, GSU will host the Economic Forecasting Conference where housing economy experts will weigh in on how the new presidency will affect the housing industry and where the industry is projected to go.
Attendees will hear presentations by:
- Rajeev Dhawan, Director, Economic Forecasting Center, Georgia State University
- Mark Palim, Vice President and Deputy Chief Economist, Fannie Mae
- John Hunt, President, MarketNsight and ViaSearch, Inc.
- Frank Norton Jr., CEO Chairman, Norton Holdings
Palim will outline the major drivers in the U.S. housing market and what is expected over the course of 2017. Hunt will then explore the driving factors behind housings “New Normal” and the moderation setting-in across all new home markets. Hunt will also share his predictions for 2017 National and Atlanta housing sales after having correctly predicted 2016 new home starts for the U.S. as well as Atlanta.
Norton will explore the trends affecting the housing market beyond the metro Atlanta area and present what the dynamics are that are currently driving housing activity across the state. Dhawan will close with a keynote presentation on the economic outlook of the U.S., Georgia and Atlanta. His presentation will touch on employment and consumption trends and their impact on the overall state of Georgia.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by the speaker program beginning at 8:30. A Q&A segment will follow the presentations, as well as a light lunch and networking opportunities at 12:15 p.m.
The conference will take place at the Speaker’s Auditorium at the Student Center East Building at GSU located at 55 Gilmer Street SE in Atlanta. Pre-registration is required for entry, and the last day to register is Friday, February 17.
