Kevin Murphy, show manager for the Progressive Atlanta Boat Show, joins Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio to discuss the upcoming boating programs in this week’s Around Atlanta edition of the show.
Kevin Murphy has been managing boat shows for 25 years through the National Marine Manufacturers Association, primarily in the sailing industry. For the past two years he has been conducting boat shows for Atlanta, which he feels “a delight to be part of”.
This year, the Atlanta Boat Show will be celebrating 55 years, with promotions being given based on the anniversary. Over 600 boats will be featured, including off-shore cruisers, a variety of ski boats, pontoons and sail boats. New elements that will be presented throughout the four-day event will be sail boats, a James Bond submarine, sailing simulator and a variety of educational seminars. Sail boats are important for the show because they are rarely featured.
The title ‘boat show’ may mislead some individuals on what all this event offers. Besides viewing and inspecting the hundreds of featured boats, people can also attend the numerous seminars being offered. Seminar subject include fishing, sailing, do-it-yourself and boating safety. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or a rookie, these seminars have advice for everyone. If you’re a life-long boat owner and lover, this is an amazing opportunity for new products. This show always features the latest and newest products and technology, new boat debuts, and launches tons of new models. For a new-comer, there are boats for every type of owner whether it be for fishing, cruising or jet skiing. Even if someone is undecided and completely clueless on boating, there are ways to experience the boats without having to touch the water. The new sailing simulator is perfect for those wanting to experience sailing but may have set backs due to the winter weather.
The Atlanta boat show is a four-day event, beginning Thursday, January 12 through Sunday, January 15. For hours of operation and discount ticket prices, visit AtlantaBoatShow.com. To celebrate the 55 years, a five-after-five promotion will take place Thursday and Friday. Receive a ticket for $5, get valet parking for $5, drink special drinks for $5 and the first 55 guests to come after 5 p.m. will receive free four-hour rentals on pontoon boats.
